Metal Head To Portray Punk In Upcoming Tim Buckley Bio Pic

Bello - (Image via: is reporting (via that Anthrax bassist Frank Bello (above) will portray punk musician, writer and fashion innovator Richard Hell (below) in an upcoming indie film titled "Greetings From Tim Buckley." The film began shooting on Monday, August 22nd in New York City. The film is being directed by Daniel Algrant and is slated for release sometime in 2012.

"Greetings from Tim Buckley" follows the true story of the days leading up to Jeff Buckley's eminent 1991 performance at his father's tribute concert in St. Ann's Church. Through a romance with a young woman working at the concert, he learns to embrace all of his feelings toward the father who abandoned him - longing, anger, forgiveness, and love. Culminating a cathartic performance of his father's most famous songs, Jeff's debut stuns the audience and launches his career as one of the greatest young musicians of his time. (IMDB)

As a former Voidoid, I must say - the guy has the same shape of face as Richard. But why a "Richard Hell" character in a Tim Buckley biopic? Hmmmm.

Hey, Jahn, thanks for stopping by and commenting! If you look at older pictures of a younger Frank Bello he looks even more like Richard except with much longer hair of course. Not sure why the Hell character will be in the movie either but then again I'm no Tim Buckley scholar. I wonder what Hell thinks of "some headbanger" portraying him?
