Been digging around, looking for more obscure Max's Kansas City stuff to add to the database. I came across the above flyer HERE. This may be the earliest flyer for an event at Max's to surface yet. Very cool. It's from 1970, and advertises an event called "The Saturday Afternoon Show at Max's" - which was a series of performance artists/poets/writers doing their thing in the restaurant.
Then this appeared earlier today...
“If you’re not in the band, you need to leave.”
“I’m in the band”
“What do you play?”
“Guitar”
“You’re under arrest”
“For what?”
“Assault and battery”
...so begins a great Max's story that took place in March of 1979 from Misfits/The Undead guitarist Bobby Steele on his Myspace blog. Read the whole thing HERE.
I've added links to these along with several more concert dates and photo links to the monster Max's Chronology that debuted here in October. You can check it all out in the ongoing project located HERE.
